The bible said—“It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 32. But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.” Matthew:5:31-32
Beloved our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ taught this on the mount = The Beatitude = Jesus in His sermon on the mount touched every facets of life and one of them is “Divorce” =
Beloved I was addicted to one magazine from the USA in the early 1980s called, “Readers Digest”. And in one of the articles or epistle it said, “Seventy five percent of prison inmates in the USA is from single parent.” And this statistics implies to the world also. That is the major side effect of divorce.
Beloved divorce is as hurtful and destructive today as in Jesus’ day. God intends marriage to be a life time commitment.
The bible said—“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis:2:24
Beloved when entering into marriage, please do not consider divorce an option for solving problems or a way out of a relationship that seem dead. Please in this sermon, Jesus is also attacking those who purposefully abuse the marriage contract, using divorce to satisfy their lustful desire to marry someone else. Dear friend are your actions today helping your marriage to grow stronger or are you tearing it apart?
The bible said—“And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5. And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6. Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Matthew:19:4-6
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22. Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matthew:18:21-22
Beloved Jesus said that divorce is not permissible except for unfaithfulness. This does not mean that divorce should automatically occur when a spouse commits adultery. The word translated “unfaithfulness” implies a sexual immoral lifestyle, not a confessed and repented act of adultery. Those who discover that their partner has been unfaithful, should first make every effort to forgive, reconcile and restored their relationship. Please we should always look for reasons to restore our marriage relationship rather than for excuses to leave it.
The bible said—“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Mark:11:25
